To start your Pathway course at the University of Roehampton, a major landmark on the application journey is receiving your conditional offer.
Once you have prepared and sent your application to us, we may send you a conditional offer. This means that we are offering you a place on your chosen course as long as certain conditions are fulfilled.
Here, we’ll tell you exactly what is usually included in a conditional offer.
Transcripts of previous qualifications
The first thing we need is the transcripts of your current qualifications. These may be the last qualifications you did when you left school, but could include all the qualifications you have gained so far.
If your qualifications are not written in English please ensure that they are accompanied by a certified translation.
Achieving a specified grade
If you are currently studying, one condition of your offer may be achieving a certain grade in that course. This simply requires you to take your exams and send us the confirmation and transcripts of the certifications (including any official translations) when you achieve the grades required.

Taking your IELTS
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures your proficiency in English. Because our courses are taught in English, it is important you have a basic level of English proficiency before you come to Roehampton to study.
For students coming to the UK to study an International Foundation Programme, we are only able to accept students who have taken their IELTS at a UKVI approved centre.
If you are applying for an International Foundation Programme, you will need to have the following IELTS scores:
- IELTS 4.5 (with no single element below 4.0) – 3 term programme
- IELTS 5.0 (with no single element below 4.5) – 2 term programme
- Pre-Masters students will need IELTS 6.0 (with no single element below 5.5) to study the Graduate Certificate.
- If you do not hold an IELTS and are looking to apply for our Pre-Masters, we also accept an English test taken through QA Higher Education, our partners for our pathway programmes. This test can either be taken in person in London, or via Skype.
Other factors
If you haven’t sent us your Personal Statement, we won’t be able to issue you an offer. We will also need to see any evidence of previous UK study including past visas (or visa refusals and Home Office correspondence) and offers of study, and copies of CAS and accompanying transcripts from UK universities.
It is also a good idea to start to prepare your bank statement at this point. This will need to be submitted in order to secure your visa to study in the UK.
Next steps
Once you meet the conditions of your offer, you will be sent an unconditional offer. You will then need to return your acceptance form, pay the course deposit, and provide bank statements. After this, your CAS will be issued.
