Yes, studying, lectures and coursework will be a big part of your time at the University of Roehampton, but they don’t have to be the only things to make your day. There are many interesting things to see and do in and around the campus.
To make the most of your time whilst you study, we’ve compiled 20 of the best things to experience during your time here.
1. Richmond Park
This huge royal park and nature reserve is pretty much on the doorstep of the University of Roehampton and you can walk there from the campus in 30 minutes or get a bus there in 10 minutes.
2. Putney Leisure Centre
At just over a mile away from campus, this leisure centre has a fully equipped gym and a wide range of exercise classes. You’ll find the right activity to keep you fit here.
3. Wimbledon Tennis Club & Museum
With one of the world’s most famous sporting venues just a 20 minute bus ride from campus, you’d be crazy not to visit the iconic Wimbledon Tennis Club.
4. Fulham Football Club
If you’re a football fan then you must come and see a match at Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage, the oldest football stadium in London, only a 28 minute bus ride away.
5. Syon House
Just 40 minutes away you’ll find this grand, stately home that has been in the same family for 400 years. With a 200-acre park and antique interiors, this is an ideal trip for history lovers.
6. London Wetland Centre
Just over half an hour’s walk from campus is the London Wetland Centre. An urban oasis of nature and wildlife with beautiful lakes, ponds and gardens.
7. Barnes Riverfront Village
This quintessentially British riverside village is a great place to take your family when they come visiting, just a 10 minute bus journey from campus.
8. University of Roehampton library
Our brand new, state-of-the-art library is an excellent place to enhance your studies as well as have some quiet time.
9. The Hive Café
This ethical café sells simple yet tasty food made from produce on our own growing space.
10. Hammersmith Apollo Theatre
This huge entertainment venue plays host to live music, comedy shows and everything in between. Even better, it’s only a 20 minute bus ride from campus.
11. Chiswick House
Visit Lord Burlington’s 18th century stately home with 65 acres of gardens for you to enjoy. Take a bus and train ride to visit the house from campus in around 30 minutes.
12. Bishops Park
This Grade II listed park is a beautiful place to have a walk along the riverside by Putney Bridge or have a coffee at the park’s café.
13. Richmond Theatre
This Victorian theatre is a wonderful place to enjoy some great theatre, including musicals, plays and comedy shows. Just half an hour’s bus journey away.
14. Campus lake
Sit by the pretty-as-a-picture Froebel lake right outside Grove House. A perfect place to catch-up on some reading or just for some downtime.
15. Kew Garden’s the Great Pagoda
You may not expect to see an East Asian-inspired pagoda in London but head to Kew Gardens and that’s exactly what you’ll find.
16. World Rugby Museum & Stadium Tours
All sports fans, especially rugby lovers will enjoy a trip to Twickenham’s World Rugby Museum and stadium tours. Just a 45 minute train ride from campus.
17. National Archives at Kew
History lovers will enjoy a trip to The National Archives at Kew. Here you can enjoy the reading rooms and many of the great free exhibitions. A journey to visit is only 40 minutes by public transport.
18. London Ghost Walks
Take an historical and spooky walk around some of London’s most haunted parts… If you dare.

Come to our social space in Whiteland’s College for a game of table tennis, book exchange or to watch TV and relax.
20. The Food Market Chiswick
The perfect place for a Sunday morning trip. With delicious foods to buy and try from all corners of the world.
