The internet is a very helpful tool for students, both for studying during your course and enjoying your free time. With this in mind, we have put together a list of some of the best websites to make your time at university as easy and as fun as possible.

  1. For university informationUniversity of Roehampton Pathway
    You have probably already visited this site before coming to study in London. It contains lots of information on courses, the campus and semester dates as well as contact details to get in touch with the university.
  2. For student events and clubsStudent Union
    If you want to know about some of the social events going on in and around the university campus, the Student Union website will tell you. There are clubs, sports and activities all listed there to help students meet each other and bond over things they are passionate about
  3. For money-savingSaveTheStudent.org
    This website is designed to help students save money. They give tips and advice as well as deals and discounts from lots of different companies. Check regularly for new offers and budgeting ideas.
  4. For cooking –  StudentRecipes.com
    There are so many amazing places to eat out in London. However, if you want to have a bit of a change, cooking for yourself can be fun. This website has hundreds of recipes that are cheap and easy to make – perfect for students!
  5. For supportTheStudentRoom.co.uk
    During your time at university, you may have questions you want to ask other students but are not sure how. The Student Room is one of the biggest student forums on the web and is full of discussions on hundreds of different topics.
  6. For essay writingGrammarly.com
    Grammarly is an app you can add to your browser that checks your writing for mistakes. It is a useful tool for essay writing and composing emails, although it is not a substitute for double-checking your work manually, too.
  7. For healthNHS.uk
    The University of Roehampton has its own free medical centre but the NHS website has a lot of different resources. If you want to check your symptoms or need help dealing with stress, it can be very useful.
  8. For cultureTimeOut.com
    London is an exciting city full of lots of different things to do. Time Out is a great place to find out what’s going on, where to eat or even to buy tickets to events. Whatever your interests, you’re sure to discover something you love.
  9. For government information and servicesGOV.UK
    The UK Government site is incredibly useful for checking up on any laws, regulations or policies you aren’t sure of as well as citizenship, visas and travel.
  10. For international studentsUK Council for International Student Affairs
    This is a charity specifically set up for international students that offers advice for international students on everything from Brexit to immigration, fees and wellbeing. They also have lots of useful articles and resources.
